Boy, this is going to hurt.
One of our staff that arrived this season is a qualified fitness instructor and masseuse. She’s started doing Zumba classes in the village hall, so after listening to some of our team raving about it, I thought what the hell, give it a go. How painful could it be? It’s only £4 & an hour of my time….
You know, I admire those who are motivated to exercise. Me? You would never think that this lardy arse once played hockey for Scotland. Damn these knees. Actually, the right one is ok as knees go, it’s the left that’s rubber ducked.
The walk to the village hall was exercise in itself…. A wee warm up? By the time I got there, I was hoping it was time to go home. Wishful thinking. I did pay my money as I got there though, so if I wimped out, at least I had parted with the cash and had a stroll up to the hall.
Never mind the knees, after an hour of Zumba I had someone else’s hips, my body was screaming “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!?!” The only positive thing is, apparently I still have ham strings. Quite surprised myself with that one.
In a sick sort of way I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am however a realist. I’m not going to be sore tonight, maybe a bit tomorrow, by Thursday I am probably not going to be able to walk the length of myself. The question therefore must be asked, realist or optimist? Am I am going to get off that lightly?
Understand this, it’s not going to be pretty. I might be slightly lacking on the sense of humour stakes over the next few days. Just as well I am off with the lovely Ellen tomorrow, going to get our feet pampered at the Crieff Hydro…. A birthday treat. Thursday, normal day off, going out on my motorbike to keep up my practice for my up and coming IAM bike test. (EEK!) It is however a possibility that I won’t be able to get my leg over. My bike, that is.
Never mind, on the trail of really over doing things and for purposes of loosening off what are going to be aching limbs, I am going to a rave on Friday night. Right. Go Fi, you really are unhinged.
Going back to Zumba next week? Aye, you bet. I’m taking an exercise mat next week, I have a sore arse from sitting on the floor wriggling around doing my version of ‘exercise’. Avoided the wine tonight too, so all in all a good start. I’m off to find some ibuprofen gel and my bed!
Brewing up to write my holiday blog very soon….
I’m greeting with laughter – well done Fi….!!!!!
Aye, I thought that it might cause a grin or two. Ouch.
